Thousands of acres were once controlled from the manor house that sat atop the highest elevation in all of Richmond. Now this historic site, south of the James, is being carefully sculpted into one of Richmond's most exclusive boutique communities. Lost Springs is a fifty acre hidden treasure located less than one mile from the intersection of Old Gun and Huguenot Roads. The neighborhood is the most recent project from the JJH Corporation, a firm with over 35 years experience in development and construction.
The developers of Lost Springs seek to create a quietly elegant community by maintaining strict controls over a variety of custom designed homes. The neighborhood will consist of two sections, separated by a pocket park and carefully designed to work in conjunction with one another. Section one will feature seventeen one acre plus, estate style, lots. These lots are all exceptionally deep and private, protected underneath a canopy of natural hardwood trees. The second section will be a walking community of thirty-four lots, complete with sidewalks and street lamps, geared towards the empty nester demographic.
The story of Lost Springs is truly the story of unspoiled nature, artfully combined with extensive landscaping by a renowned landscape architectural firm. The homes to land ratio in this community is roughly one house to one acre, which leaves plenty of space for natural areas including a park and a winding nature trail. Foundation Park is the centerpiece of the neighborhood and is designed to transition from one section to the next. The park gets its name from the historic foundation ruins that have been preserved to become beds for newly planted gardens. Our trail forms a complete loop and will take you through both sections of the neighborhood, as well as a multi-acre wooded area and covers over one hundred feet of elevation changes. Over the course of the trail, you will pass through the park with its multiple strategically placed seating areas and the feature our subdivision is named for, The Lost Spring.

The Archer House
At the crest of the hill, high above the springs, sits The Archer House. The main portion of this home dates back to 1780 and it is the focal point that sets the tone for this neighborhood. The Archer House is named for the family who occupied it for the last forty years. The family asked us to preserve the home if there was any way possible and we gladly agreed.
Over the years the house has received several additions bringing its total square footage to around four thousand. We have spent the last fourteen months renovating the house and out-buildings from top to bottom. The Lost Springs site plan was designed to make The Archer House a focal point and it has truly become just that.
Currently the house has three bedrooms, three full baths, as well as two half baths. A first floor master bedroom addition has been designed and will add nearly one thousand additional square feet when completed. In addition to numerous unique features, massive brick fireplaces and original heart pine flooring, the house has been totally updated with the latest systems and appliances throughout.
Several unique outbuildings add to the charm of this spectacular property. Adjacent to the Main House is the Well House with its original slate roof. The Storage and Potting Shed is just a few steps away, complete with a second level children's hideaway. Rounding out this picturesque setting is the brick floored gazebo set behind a hand laid stone wall.
You will not find this home advertised or formally listed for sale, however, the house and two acre lot is available for purchase. If you have an interest in touring the property please contact Mike Hanky at (804) 399-7788 or at mikehanky@jjhcorp.com.
